For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. (James 1:23-25)
What does it take for lasting change to take root in your life? We are looking at what the Bible teaches about true change and how to live the gospel out in our everyday lives. This series is designed to help people understand the underlying motivations for their actions and give them specific, practical help in changing long-standing patterns of behavior, so they grow in love for God and others.
A word of caution about this series: Completing the pages of the included study will not change you, nor will it make you more spiritual or give you any more credit with God. However, if you allow the content of this study and series to penetrate your heart, if you invite the God who made you to search you and know your anxious ways, then you’ll slowly see your desires turn more to God, followed by your actions.
Change is slow but inevitable, so don’t measure your worth or the effectiveness of this study by what happens during the next eight weeks. Look at this as a catalyst to changing you more into the person God made you to be
